Survivors of the May 16 tornado have been receiving support at the Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) located in Chaifetz Arena. This center, operational since June 9, is a collaborative effort involving the City of St. Louis, Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, and Saint Louis University (SLU). It serves as a central hub for residents affected by the tornado to connect with various agencies and resources.

The DAC brings together over 30 government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and faith-based groups to offer coordinated assistance to disaster survivors. Services available include financial aid, legal and insurance guidance, housing resources, healthcare, and emotional support.

SLU has contributed both the venue and logistical support for this multi-week initiative. University leaders have expressed that this effort aligns with SLU’s mission to assist the community during times of need.

The final scheduled dates for the DAC's operation are June 23–26. While walk-ins are welcome, pre-registration is encouraged by calling 211 or completing an online sign-up form. The center is located at Chaifetz Arena on SLU's campus at 1 South Compton Ave. Free parking is available in the Olive-Compton Garage, with transportation assistance provided for those with mobility needs.

For further updates on recovery efforts and services offered, individuals can visit the City’s STL Recovers website.
