The Missouri General Assembly has approved a $100 million funding package to support recovery efforts in St. Louis following the tornado on May 16. The Missouri House joined the Senate in passing this legislation, which aims to assist thousands of people affected by the disaster.
Dustin Allison, Interim CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc., expressed gratitude for the legislative action, stating, “Nothing can truly replace what thousands of people in St. Louis lost as a result of the May 16 tornado, but the funding approved by the Missouri legislature will provide critical support to help address some of the most pressing needs faced by our community.”
Allison also praised bipartisan cooperation: “We applaud leaders from both parties who came together to advance $100 million in desperately needed support to the St. Louis community, support that lets those impacted know that the State is committed to rebuilding St. Louis.”
The bill was passed during a special legislative session convened by Governor Mike Kehoe and now awaits his signature.
