To support the recovery efforts for those affected by the May 16 tornado in St. Louis, Greater St. Louis, Inc. has expressed its backing for a piece of legislation that is set to be voted on in the Missouri House this week. The proposed legislation aims to allocate $100 million in state funding for disaster relief.
Dustin Allison, Interim CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc., stated, "The May 16 tornado was a tragedy in the truest sense. Our people are hurting, and we encourage leaders at the state level to work as quickly as possible to provide funding to help with recovery."
Allison further acknowledged the bipartisan effort in the Missouri Senate that led to passing the legislation during a special session called by Governor Mike Kehoe. He said, "We applaud leaders from both parties in the Missouri Senate that came together to provide $100 million in desperately needed support to the St. Louis community, and we ask their colleagues in the Missouri House to do the same and show those impacted by the tornado that the State is committed to supporting them as they work to rebuild."
The bill's passage through both legislative chambers would authorize significant financial assistance aimed at aiding recovery and rebuilding efforts for those affected by this natural disaster.
