Missouri AG aids tornado victims against scams in St. Louis area

The Missouri Attorney General's Office is collaborating with local and state agencies to support individuals impacted by recent tornadoes in the St. Louis area. Investigators from the office will offer resources on choosing reputable contractors, avoiding price gouging, and safeguarding personal information against identity fraud and other scams that often occur after natural disasters.

"My office will always protect storm victims from scammers looking to take advantage of Missourians in crisis," stated Attorney General Andrew Bailey. "We are on the ground to ensure families get the help they need and ensure bad actors are held accountable."

A Disaster Assistance Center/Multi-Agency Resource Center (DAC/MARC) has been set up to assist consumers at Chaifetz Arena, located at 1 S Compton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103. The center will operate on the following dates:

- Monday, June 9th – 11th: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm

- Monday, June 16th – 18th: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm

- Monday, June 23rd – 26th: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm

Victims of scams or those wishing to report fraudulent businesses are encouraged to speak with investigators on site or visit the website https://ago.mo.gov to file a complaint. Alternatively, they can contact the Consumer Protection Hotline at 1-800-392-8222.
