Today, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley chaired a Judiciary Committee nominations hearing for four Missourians nominated by President Trump to serve as district judges in Missouri. This marks the first group of judicial nominees put forward by the President.

The nominees include Maria A. Lanahan, Cristian M. Stevens, Joshua M. Divine, and Zachary M. Bluestone, all proposed to fill long-standing vacancies in Missouri's Eastern and Western Districts. These positions have remained unoccupied during the Biden Administration.

Senator Hawley has collaborated with the Trump administration since the beginning of the year to prioritize filling these vacancies. He expressed optimism about confirming these nominees, stating: "Meet the 4 outstanding Missourians Trump tapped as his FIRST judicial nominees: Josh Divine, Maria Lanahan, Zachary Bluestone & Cris Stevens... We WILL get them confirmed."

During the hearing, Senator Hawley engaged in a notable discussion on Title IX protections with Whitney D. Hermandorfer, nominated for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He praised her efforts in defending legislation that protects women's sports and opportunities from men identifying as women.

"I want to thank you for going to battle for our daughters," said Senator Hawley, acknowledging Hermandorfer's litigation work on behalf of Tennessee as a service not just to the state but to the nation.

The full committee hearing is available for viewing online.
