The tornado recovery efforts in St. Louis continue to require supplies, donations, and volunteers. The teams leading these efforts have updated their list of needed items for various locations.
At 4theVille on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, there is a shortage of plywood and tarps. The location has identified these materials as a priority.
Construction and clean-up materials needed include tarps, plywood, OSB sheathing or Zip Boards, poly sheeting, 2x4s, screws, caulk and caulk guns, buckets, dehumidifiers, shovels, saws, hammers, nails, drills and drivers, staple guns and staples. Additionally required are work gloves, protective eyewear, hard hats, duct tape, utility knives, rope and zip ties. Chainsaws and other tools like crowbars and ladders are also in demand.
General supplies such as personal power banks or portable phone chargers are requested alongside batteries and flashlights. Cleaning supplies including Lysol wipes and bleach are needed too. Food items with a focus on water remain essential.
Action St. Louis/The People's Response at the O’Fallon Park Rec Center emphasizes an urgent need for reusable bags or totes along with construction materials similar to those required at 4theVille.
The Urban League Headquarters requires general supplies like tarps and hand tools along with food items that do not require can openers.
Volunteers remain crucial across all sites. "For additional volunteer opportunities," individuals can contact "The United Way of Greater St. Louis" or "Action St. Louis/The People's Response."
Donations to the City of St. Louis Tornado Response Fund support immediate relief efforts as well as long-term rebuilding initiatives.
For businesses affected by the storm's impact in St. Louis city limits can fill out an assessment form via the St. Louis Development Corporation to communicate their needs.
Relief resources are available through the City's webpage for those seeking immediate assistance or further information about available resources.
Contributions can also be made to the United Way of Greater St. Louis Severe Storm/Tornado Relief Fund which aids residents across the bi-state region impacted by recent storms.
