U.S. Senator Josh Hawley has issued a statement on the fourteenth anniversary of the EF5 tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri. The disaster claimed the lives of 161 residents and left a path of destruction.

In his statement, Senator Hawley reflected on the tragedy: "14 years ago, an EF5 tornado devastated Joplin & claimed the lives of 161 Missourians. Today we remember all those we lost on that fateful day & the resilience Joplin showed in the aftermath of the storm. And thank you to our first responders—14 years ago and every day since."

Senator Hawley recently visited St. Louis, where he met with victims and assessed damage from recent tornadoes that affected Eastern Missouri.
