Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has issued a consumer alert regarding the bankruptcy filing of 23andMe and its affiliated entities, including Lemonaid Health, Telehealth, and Pharmacy. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on March 23, 2025, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Consumers who believe they have claims against these companies are urged to file a proof of claim by July 14, 2025. This applies to those owed money or with other types of claims. A general proof of claim form is available at https://restructuring.ra.kroll.com/23andMe/EPOC-Index.

Victims of the 2023 data breach involving 23andMe should file a special proof of claim form through the same website. Claims can be submitted electronically via Kroll's official website or mailed to the designated address in New York. Hand delivery or overnight courier options are also available at a Brooklyn address.

Attorney General Bailey highlighted that consumers might want to delete their personal data from 23andMe's system as their genetic information could be sold as an asset during the bankruptcy process. Instructions for deleting accounts and data are provided on the company's customer care page.

The company plans to sell all assets by June 17, 2025. In response to privacy concerns, Missouri's Attorney General successfully requested an independent consumer protection ombudsman. Professor Neil Richards will evaluate whether selling customers' data complies with legal standards and report his findings to the court.

Consumers impacted by this bankruptcy can submit complaints through Missouri's consumer protection division or call their hotline.
