After nearly five years of playing the Lotto together, three friends finally struck it big. Their ticket matched all six numbers drawn on April 26, winning them a $2 million jackpot.

The group’s designated ticket buyer purchased the winning ticket at Prenger Foods, located at 105 W. Smith St. in Sturgeon. The numbers on the Quick Pick ticket were 2, 6, 8, 10, 16, and 28.

"It was just a Quick Pick," said the purchaser.

The day following the draw, he checked their ticket and was taken aback by the result.

"I saw we won $2 million, and I couldn’t believe it!" he exclaimed.

Lotto is a state-specific game with drawings held every Wednesday and Saturday at 8:59 p.m. The upcoming jackpot for Saturday, May 17, is estimated to be $1.5 million.

In the fiscal year of 2024 (FY24), players in Boone County won over $23.9 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers earned more than $2.4 million in commissions and bonuses from lottery sales, while over $53.2 million from lottery proceeds were allocated to education programs within the county.
