Saint Louis University (SLU) invites the community to participate in several events as part of the St. Louis Literary Award celebrations. The Visual and Performing Arts Department, along with the Art History program, St. Louis Literary Award Programs, and the Kranzberg Arts Foundation, are hosting a panel discussion on April 7. This event will focus on the intersection of art, history, and literature and will take place at 12 p.m. in SLU's Pius XII Memorial Library.

The discussion will feature muralist Dominic Chambers, known for his mural on SLU's Searls Hall, inspired by Colson Whitehead’s novel, "The Underground Railroad." Historian Dorris Keeven-Franke will join Chambers, bringing her expertise on Missouri's Underground Railroad history.

On April 9, SLU will honor Colson Whitehead at the Sheldon Concert Hall at 7 p.m. during the 2025 St. Louis Literary Award presentation. Tickets are available for $15.

Colson Whitehead will also engage the public in an Author Craft Talk on April 10, moderated by Ron Austin, assistant professor of English at SLU. This event will occur at 12 p.m. in the Wool Ballroom of the Busch Student Center and is open to the public upon registration.

The St. Louis Literary Award department in SLU Libraries supports various educational initiatives, including a Campus Read series, the Undergraduate Writing Award, Literature & Medicine, the Inspired By Arts Showcase, and the Walter J. Ong S.J. Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Research.
