U.S. Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri has announced plans to introduce legislation aimed at replacing outdated military family housing at Fort Leonard Wood. The proposed bill follows the senator's successful efforts to secure $113.5 million in federal funding for the base through fiscal years 2023 and 2024. Construction of new family housing is scheduled to commence this year.

Senator Hawley expressed his commitment to improving living conditions for the soldiers and their families at the military base: “We have fought long and hard for the soldiers and families at Fort Leonard Wood because they deserve adequate living conditions in return for all they sacrifice to serve their country. We’ve already secured more than $100 million in federal funding to revamp Fort Leonard Wood, and I am hopeful that with the help of the President, we can get this done this year.”

The introduced legislation mandates the Secretary of the Army to carry out construction projects replacing 1,142 houses at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Additionally, the bill authorizes the allocation of $700 million for the Secretary of the Army to complete the housing replacement project.

Senator Hawley has consistently supported new housing initiatives at Fort Leonard Wood. He has played a significant role in securing federal funding to improve the living standards for Missouri's military personnel and their families.
