U.S. Senator Josh Hawley has put forward a legislative proposal aimed at prohibiting the issuance of nationwide injunctions by district court judges. This move seeks to address what Hawley perceives as an overreach of judicial power that interferes with presidential authority.

Senator Hawley expressed his concerns, stating, “Unelected district judges are usurping the authority of a duly-elected president and dictating national policy for 330 million Americans.” He emphasized the need for Congress to intervene against what he describes as "unconstitutional weaponization of the judiciary." According to him, his proposed bill is a necessary step towards curbing this issue.

Hawley highlighted that in February alone, liberal judges issued 15 nationwide injunctions against the Trump Administration. He argues that these actions hindered efforts to implement key reforms related to border security, eliminating waste and fraud, and safeguarding children from certain medical procedures.

The proposed Nationwide Injunction Abuse Prevent Act of 2025 aims to achieve several objectives:

- It seeks to ban nationwide injunctions issued by district court judges.

- The legislation intends to clarify that a judge's order should apply only to parties involved in the case or within the local judicial district.

- It aims to empower the Executive Branch by reducing obstructions in pursuing its national policy agenda.

Further details about this legislative initiative can be accessed through the full text of the bill.
