U.S. Senator Josh Hawley announced the reopening of the Baring Post Office in Missouri, which had been closed since August 2023 due to tornado damage. The senator has been actively involved in efforts to restore services at this rural location.

"I'm delighted to report that the Post Office in Baring, Missouri has finally reopened after closing due to tornado damage in 2023. Rural post offices are a lifeline – I’ll always fight to keep them open & serving Missouri," stated Senator Hawley on social media.

In his efforts, Senator Hawley sent a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy in September 2023, requesting an update on the status of the Baring facility. During a Senate hearing in 2024, he pressed Postmaster DeJoy for a timeline regarding the rebuilding process and continued to seek answers later that year. Additionally, Senator Hawley introduced legislation aimed at establishing clear timelines for reopening rural post offices affected by natural disasters or other unforeseen events.
