A Missouri Lottery player experienced an unexpected windfall at a local filling station in St. Louis after scanning a Powerball ticket purchased at Schnucks Market, located at 1589 Sierra Vista Plaza. The ticket, from the February 15 drawing, won $50,000 by matching four out of five white-ball numbers and the Powerball number.

The winner initially believed he had matched four numbers for a $100 prize. "I thought I had matched four numbers and won $100," he stated. However, upon scanning the ticket, the lottery machine indicated something different. Confused by the message on the screen, he asked a clerk to scan it again.

"The clerk said, 'I can’t cash this,'" the winner recounted. "I was shocked when he told me I matched the Powerball and won $50,000!"

Powerball is a multi-state draw game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m.

In fiscal year 2024, players in St. Louis County collectively won over $200.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers earned more than $19.4 million in commissions and bonuses from these sales, while education programs in the county benefited from more than $161.2 million in lottery proceeds.
