A man from Charlotte, North Carolina, has confessed to embezzling over $300,000 from a company in St. Louis County. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Sayler A. Fleming on Monday.

Scott H. Foster, aged 48, entered a guilty plea to one count of wire fraud last Friday. As part of his plea agreement, Foster admitted to committing the crime between January 2018 and December 2022 while serving as a mid-level executive at the company. He manipulated the human resources systems to establish an employee account for his paramour, resulting in wages and benefits exceeding $273,000 being paid out over nearly five years despite minimal or no actual work being performed by this individual.

Additionally, Foster used a corporate American Express card for personal travel expenses totaling more than $33,000 for himself, his paramour, and other acquaintances.

Foster's sentencing is set for May 22.

The FBI conducted the investigation into this case with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Clow handling the prosecution.
