A Missouri Lottery player discovered a $222,000 win thanks to a friend's call. The winning ticket was bought at Premier Bowling & Recreation Center in Raytown. The winner was unaware of his fortune until his friend informed him that the jackpot had been won at his usual ticket purchase location.
"My friend called me and asked if I had checked my numbers because he knew that someone had won the jackpot at the place I usually buy my tickets," the winner said. His friend mentioned that the winning numbers from the January 23 drawing started with a 9, matching his ticket.
"I told him I would take a look, and that's when I realized I had all the winning numbers," he added. The ticket, purchased on a whim while bowling, matched all five drawn numbers: 9, 23, 32, 34, and 37.
"I like playing the Missouri Draw Games," he noted. "And this time it actually hit, and I was shocked!"
Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots starting at $50,000 and increasing until won. Tonight's jackpot is estimated at $77,000.
In Jackson County during FY24, players won over $109.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $9.8 million in commissions and bonuses, while education programs benefited from over $22 million in appropriated lottery proceeds.
