U.S. Senator Josh Hawley has called for the establishment of a new inspector general to audit U.S. tax dollars allocated to aid Ukraine. He announced his intention to reintroduce legislation in the Senate aimed at creating a watchdog dedicated solely to auditing and reporting on the funds spent on Ukraine.

Hawley emphasized the need for accountability, stating, "I will again introduce on the floor of the Senate legislation to create a watchdog whose *sole responsibility* is auditing every dollar spent on Ukraine – and reporting back to the American people."

This initiative follows previous efforts by Senator Hawley, who had earlier pushed for an independent oversight body after his proposal was rejected by a Democrat-controlled Senate in 2023. The Senator maintains that it is crucial for Americans to have transparency regarding their tax dollars, especially in light of recent reports of wasteful spending within the United States Agency for International Development.

Senator Hawley's renewed push underscores his commitment to ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency in foreign aid spending.
