The Route D/Route WW bridge over Interstate 44 in Franklin County is closed for at least a week to allow for emergency repairs. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) shut down the bridge on Sunday, February 16, after it was hit by a semi-truck carrying an oversized load.
The closure affects both directions of the overpass, and further inspection is needed to assess the extent of the damage. MoDOT has not yet determined when the bridge will reopen but plans to provide an update later this week.
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes during the closure. Suggested detours include Route 185/Elmont Road for those accessing from the west and Route AF from the east. North and South Outer Service Roads are also available for traveling around the closure.
