Eastbound I-44 in Newton County will undergo lane reductions for bridge deck repairs from February 14 to 16. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced that the work will take place at Mile Marker 0.2 near Exit 1.

The repair work is scheduled during nighttime hours, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday through Sunday. During these times, eastbound I-44 will be reduced to one lane as contractor crews focus on repairing the bridge deck and driving surface. Traffic will be shifted into the passing (left) lane.

All lanes of I-44 will remain open during daytime hours, and no signed detours are planned. However, drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes if possible. MoDOT advises motorists to pay attention to signs and message boards that will alert them as they approach the work zone.

Potential weather conditions or scheduling conflicts could affect the repair schedule.

For further information, MoDOT can be contacted in Springfield at 417-895-7600 or through their website at www.modot.org/southwest.
