The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced a scheduled nighttime closure for northbound U.S. Route 65, located north of Missouri Route 14 in Ozark. The closure is set to occur from 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, until 6 a.m. on Monday, February 24.

This temporary closure is necessary for contractor crews to install a storm drain pipe under U.S. Route 65 as part of the ongoing highway widening project in Christian County. Lane closures will begin earlier at 7 p.m. on Sunday night before both lanes are fully closed later that evening.

Originally planned for February 9, the work was rescheduled to its current date due to unforeseen circumstances.

During the closure period, drivers should expect law enforcement officers directing traffic from northbound Route 65 to Route 14 (Jackson Street). Southbound Route 65 will remain open with two available lanes measuring ten feet each.

No signed detours will be provided; however, drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes during this time. Signs and message boards will be used to alert drivers about the work zone and inform them of any reduced speeds or traffic delays.

Weather conditions or construction delays may impact the schedule of this operation. MoDOT advises checking their Traveler Information Map for updates on road closings and traffic impacts.

For further details, individuals can contact MoDOT in Springfield at 417-895-7600 or visit their website at www.modot.org/southwest. Updates are also available through MoDOT's Southwest District social media channels on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube.
