East Avenue in Springfield will be closed north of Kearney Street from February 17 to February 24, according to a recent announcement by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). The closure is due to contractor crews reconstructing and paving approaches as part of the Missouri Route 744 and Kearney Street Corridor Upgrades.
During this period, East Avenue will remain inaccessible, while Kearney Street (Missouri Route 744) will stay open. Crews and equipment will be present near traffic areas, with electronic message boards placed nearby to notify drivers of any schedule changes. MoDOT advises checking their Traveler Information Map for updates on road closures and traffic impacts.
The project, managed by Capital Paving & Construction from Columbia, has a budget of $14.9 million and is expected to conclude by December 31, 2025. Potential weather or construction delays may affect the schedule.
