The City of Kansas City, Missouri, has announced a public meeting to discuss the Environmental Assessment for the South Loop Project. This project aims to create a 5.5-acre urban park in the heart of Kansas City, featuring gardens, play areas, entertainment venues, and pop-up markets.

The open house meeting will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at the Kirk Family YMCA located at 222 W 11th Street in Kansas City. Attendees will have the opportunity to comment on various aspects of the project including its design and construction as well as its economic and social impacts.

Sherae Honeycutt serves as Press Secretary for this initiative. She can be contacted at (816) 946-3611 or via email at sherae.honeycutt@kcmo.org for more information.

The South Loop Project is described as "more than just a park—it’s a bold investment in the future of Kansas City." It promises to provide an inclusive space for residents and support local businesses through events and markets.

For those interested in reviewing the Environmental Assessment document, copies are available online and at several locations including MoDOT's Kansas City District Office and Kansas City's City Hall. Written comments will be accepted until ten days after the meeting. A public hearing can also be requested by writing to the city.

Accessibility accommodations are available by contacting Erin Buek at erin@parsonkc.com before February 6, 2025.
