Missouri LTAP and the Safety Circuit Rider Program have secured a State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) Incentive grant to enhance work zone safety in Missouri. The initiative aims to provide training, signs, and channelizers to five local agencies across the state.
The program targets smaller, under-resourced agencies that lack adequate signs or channelizers for safe work zones. By supplying necessary materials and comprehensive training, the project seeks to improve safety for both workers and drivers through consistent safer work zones statewide. The focus is on supporting Local Public Agencies that either do not possess proper signing equipment or have equipment that is not in usable condition.
Missouri LTAP and the Safety Circuit Rider are inviting applications from agencies interested in receiving one of five Work Zone Sign Packages. Each package comprises two Road Work Ahead Signs, two One Lane Road Signs, two Flagger Image Signs, six A Frame Sign Stands, two Stop Slow Paddles with Handle, and 50 Trimline Channelizers.
Recipients will also participate in a half-day workshop led by a Missouri LTAP instructor alongside the Safety Circuit Rider and additional state safety personnel.
The selection process will evaluate criteria such as agency size, resource deficiency, and participation in other LTAP workforce development training programs. Award notifications are expected by mid-March. Interested parties are encouraged to apply using the provided link.
