In Jefferson City, Missouri, adjustments are planned for northbound U.S. Route 63 to enhance traffic flow. These changes will occur south of Interstate 70 in a long-term work zone between the Conley Road underpass and Broadway overpass. Starting Tuesday, through traffic will be redirected to the passing (left) lane, while the driving (right) lane will accommodate vehicles entering and exiting the highway.

The traffic shift is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on February 4, 2025. Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will remove existing road striping and apply new markings starting at the Stadium Boulevard underpass to establish this new alignment.

This configuration aims to reduce congestion during peak hours and improve overall traffic flow within the work zone between Conley Road underpass and Broadway overpass.

The success of this work depends on several factors, including weather conditions and road temperature.

This traffic pattern will remain until construction crews complete two new bridges on U.S. Route 63 as part of a larger redesign for the I-70/U.S. Route 63 interchange. This project is a segment of MoDOT’s Statewide Improve I-70 Program. The "Improve I-70: Columbia to Kingdom City" initiative will add a third travel lane in each direction along a 20-mile stretch of I-70 between U.S. Route 63 (Columbia) and Route 54 (Kingdom City). The $405 million fixed-cost contract includes new pavement across all three lanes of I-70 and improvements to interchanges at U.S. Route 63 and U.S. Route 54. Completion is anticipated by late 2027, with further details available at www.modot.org/improvei70/columbiakingdomcity.
