Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has issued a warning to football fans in the state, advising them to be cautious of potential scams as they purchase tickets for the upcoming Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off against the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9.

“With the Chiefs heading to the Super Bowl, I want all Missourians to stay sharp when purchasing their tickets and avoid falling victim to scams,” stated Attorney General Bailey. “We are here to ensure that anyone who tries to exploit our fans will be held accountable. If you encounter an issue, know that the Attorney General’s Office is here to help.”

Attorney General Bailey provided several tips aimed at protecting consumers from fraudulent ticket sellers:

- Know your vendor: Ensure that tickets are purchased from a reputable website before providing any personal financial information.

- Do your research: Check for complaints about unfamiliar ticket sellers on the Attorney General’s or Better Business Bureau’s websites.

- Use a credit card: Transactions made with a credit card can offer protections not available when using cash, check, debit cards, or payment apps like Cash App or Venmo.

- Shop on secured sites: Verify that URLs begin with "https" and look for a closed lock graphic in the browser's address bar when entering personal information.

- Inspect your tickets: Physically check tickets for correct event details such as date, time, and location to avoid being denied entry.

Bailey also advised consumers that if an offer seems too good to be true, it likely is.

Missourians who suspect they have encountered a ticket scam are encouraged to contact the Missouri Attorney General’s Consumer Complaint Hotline at 800-392-8222 or visit ago.mo.gov.
