The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced plans to enhance the intersection of Route M and County Road 459 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. This initiative aims to improve sight distance at the intersection.

The project is tentatively scheduled for November 2025, following the completion of the Route M resurfacing project. The work will involve flattening the crest of a hill to enhance visibility along Route M and its junction with County Road 459. Construction may commence as early as spring 2026, during which time the roadway near the intersection will be closed for approximately two months.

Public inspection and copying of maps, plans, and other related information prepared by MoDOT will be available at their Sikeston District office located at 2675 N. Main St., Sikeston, Missouri.

Individuals requiring assistance in another language can reach out to MoDOT District Design Engineer Tim Pickett at (573) 472-9003 by Tuesday, February 11. Those affected by this project may request a public meeting regarding the proposed improvements. Such requests must be submitted in writing to District Engineer Mark Croarkin at 2675 North Main St., Sikeston, MO 63801, by Saturday, February 15, 2025.

For further information or inquiries, contact MoDOT District Design Engineer Tim Pickett at (573) 472-9003 or MoDOT’s Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK-MODOT (275-6636).
