Construction on Conley Road in Columbia, Missouri, will lead to overnight closures next week. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced that a short segment of the road will be closed for several nights to install culverts.
The closure will occur at the entrance between IHOP and Panda Express from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., January 27-29, 2025. Other entrances will remain open during this period. MoDOT stated that all work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
Motorists should expect various lane closures and ongoing construction through 2027 as part of the "Improve I-70: Columbia to Kingdom City" project. Drivers are urged to exercise caution in work zones, with reminders to "Buckle Up" and "Phone Down."
The Statewide Improve I-70 Program aims to add a third lane in each direction along a 20-mile stretch of I-70 between U.S. Route 63 (Columbia) and Route 54 (Kingdom City). This $405 million fixed-cost contract also includes new pavement for all three lanes of I-70 and interchange improvements at Routes 63 and 54. Completion is expected by late 2027.
Missouri's FY2024 budget, signed into law by Governor Mike Parson, allocates $2.8 billion in General Revenue for constructing a third lane across the state on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
