In a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, U.S. Senator Josh Hawley questioned Pam Bondi, President Trump's nominee for Attorney General, about actions taken by President Biden's Department of Justice. Senator Hawley focused on what he described as "disgraceful chapters" involving the alleged targeting of religious groups.
Senator Hawley stated, "In the last four years, this Administration has carried out an unprecedented attack and campaign against people of faith." He accused the Biden Administration of conducting campaigns against religious entities such as pregnancy centers and churches.
Pam Bondi committed to investigating these allegations if confirmed. She pledged to change course from what was described as weaponization by the previous administration and assured that she would act in the interest of the American public.
During a second round of questioning, Senator Hawley brought up concerns about the FBI's treatment of parents who questioned critical race theory at school board meetings under the Biden Administration. He remarked, "Garland never apologized for it, he never did anything about it, and it is still in effect." Bondi agreed to review related memos and promised to address these issues appropriately.
Additionally, Senator Hawley secured Bondi's commitment to examine further the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) and its implications for Missouri if she becomes Attorney General.
