Today, Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri addressed a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin concerning allegations that a man is residing in the women's barracks at Fort Leonard Wood. The whistleblower report claims that the unit at the fort processed paperwork for a biological male, reclassified him as female, and assigned him to the female barracks.

Senator Hawley expressed concerns about military readiness being compromised by what he describes as "progressive gender experimentation." He urged Secretary Austin to ensure separate housing for biological men and women in military barracks.

"Erasing the distinction between men and women hurts military readiness and places progressive gender experimentation ahead of warfighting," stated Senator Hawley. He further emphasized his position by saying, "Military readiness is suffering because of your progressive social agenda."

The letter also highlighted Department of Defense policies that allow individuals to change their gender markers within the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), thus permitting them to be housed according to their chosen gender identity.

Senator Hawley concluded his letter with a call for immediate action from Secretary Austin to rectify this situation both at Fort Leonard Wood and across other military installations.
