The University of Missouri is set to celebrate the achievements of 1,755 students at its winter commencement ceremonies this month. University President Mun Choi expressed pride in the graduates' accomplishments, stating, “I am so proud of what our graduates have accomplished. Our students are well prepared to contribute to their communities and to society, with more than 95% of new Mizzou alumni starting their careers, continuing their education, joining the military or filling critical service roles after graduation. We look forward to celebrating the successes of our graduates.”
During the commencement weekend, a total of 1,875 degrees will be awarded by Mizzou. This includes 1,371 bachelor's degrees, 375 master's degrees, and 96 doctoral degrees. Additionally, thirty-three education specialist degrees will be conferred.
Robin Wenneker, chair of the University of Missouri Board of Curators and an alumna herself, remarked on the significance of earning a degree: "Earning a degree is a remarkable achievement and a moment of pride for our graduates, their families, and the entire Mizzou community." She congratulated the Class of 2024 for excelling while embracing Mizzou’s traditions.
Graduates come from diverse backgrounds with representation from 42 states and 20 countries. The graduating class also includes 443 online students. Matthew Martens, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs stated that graduates are leaving with relevant knowledge and experiences that will aid them in future endeavors: “With their strong educational foundation from Mizzou,” he said, “we know that they will go out and make the world a better place.”
