Saint Louis University's Varsity League of Legends Esports team has achieved a significant milestone by winning their first national title. The Billikens emerged victorious against Maryville University on Saturday, June 8, at the 2024 CLOL College Championship in Boise, Idaho.

This triumph marks the first national championship victory in the program's four-year history. In the finals, SLU faced Maryville University, a two-time National Champion. The Billikens secured the title with a decisive 3-1 win.

SLU's journey to the championship was notable. The team began the 2024 CLOL College Championship with a loss to the University of St. Thomas, another two-time National Champion. However, they rebounded and did not suffer another defeat throughout the double-elimination tournament.

Navigating through the loser's bracket, SLU defeated Ole Miss 3-2, Winthrop University 3-1, and Northwood University 3-0 before avenging their earlier loss to St. Thomas with a 3-1 victory on Sunday, May 26. This win secured their place in the grand finals.

The starting roster for SLU included Jett "Srtty" Joye in the Top Lane, Winston "Winnie" Herold in the Jungle, Isaac "Darkwings" Chou in the Middle Lane, Aaron "Airren" Li in the Bottom Lane, Daniel "Skytec" Soetikno as Support and Mervin "Dayos" Lachica as Head Coach.
