Today marks the one-year anniversary of the October 7th attacks on Israel by Hamas. U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) released a statement to commemorate the event, emphasizing continued support for Israel. "One year ago today our great ally Israel was savagely attacked. A year later, they’re still fighting to defend their nation," said Sen. Hawley. "Now more than ever, we must stand with Israel."
Senator Hawley has consistently shown support for Israel through legislative actions and public statements. Last year, he introduced a resolution in the Senate that condemned both Hamas and antisemitic student groups on college campuses who celebrated the attacks.
In his efforts to address antisemitism, Senator Hawley demanded that Secretary Mayorkas terminate a Department of Homeland Security employee who had made antisemitic and pro-Hamas statements. He also called for an investigation by the Department of Justice into third-party funding sources behind violent protests against Jews on college campuses.
Furthermore, Senator Hawley supported measures such as deportations and visa cancellations for undocumented students involved in these protests and worked to expose Biden administration nominees with ties to antisemitism.
