A St. Louis man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a fatal shooting related to a drug debt. U.S. District Judge Sarah E. Pitlyk delivered the sentence on Monday.
Terrell Donta McDaniel agreed to sell 10 grams of fentanyl to Andre Nash on November 2, 2022, for $500. However, McDaniel did not provide the full amount of fentanyl, prompting Nash to seek him out to collect the debt.
Nash located McDaniel at a vacant house in the 4100 block of Clara Place and entered the house, where McDaniel shot and killed him. Following the incident, McDaniel and others wrapped Nash’s body in tarps and plastic, placed it in the trunk of a stolen car, and dumped it in the 5900 block of St. Louis Avenue that night. The body was discovered the next morning.
In court, McDaniel apologized to Nash’s family, stating he was afraid for his life and had been trying to avoid Nash for four to five months.
McDaniel, now 42, pleaded guilty in September 2023 to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and one count of discharge of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI.
