GeoFutures announces winners of 2024 scholarship for geospatial studies

GeoFutures, an initiative of Greater St. Louis, Inc., announced Ritika Tejwani as the recipient of the 2024 GeoFutures STL Scholarship. Tejwani, a Business and Computer Science major at Washington University in St. Louis, received this award funded through the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF).

"I am extremely grateful to be awarded the GeoFutures STL Scholarship. It is an incredible honor, and I am thrilled about the opportunity to be part of the USGIF community," said Tejwani.

St. Louis geospatial partners including Globe Building, Westway Services Group, and GDIT have also funded scholarships through USGIF to support local students in geospatial studies.

"Growing our geospatial workforce and talent here in St. Louis is a critical strategic focus for us," stated Andy Dearing, project lead for GeoFutures. "These scholarships underscore the importance of investing in the next generation of geospatial leaders."

The GeoFutures STL Scholarship provides $10,000 annually to students from or studying in St. Louis interested in geospatial fields. The Globe Building St. Louis Scholarship offers $5,000 annually to local undergraduate or graduate students studying related fields.

The Westway Services Scholarship for Veterans awards $5,000 annually to veterans pursuing geospatial studies at various academic levels. The GDIT Horizons Scholarship grants $10,000 annually to high school seniors planning to study STEM or geospatial-related fields.

Greater St. Louis, Inc.'s partnership with USGIF aims to bolster St. Louis' position as a leader in geospatial technology. GEOINT Symposium will return to St. Louis in May 2025.

"At USGIF, we believe in empowering the next generation of geospatial intelligence leaders," said Ronda Schrenk, CEO of USGIF.
