U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) announced today that he will file a Senate resolution calling for U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign immediately. This follows an incident where the agency failed to protect former President Donald Trump from a preventable assassination attempt.
"Tomorrow as soon as the Senate reconvenes, I will introduce a resolution demanding Director Cheatle RESIGN," tweeted Senator Hawley on July 22, 2024.
Last week, Senator Hawley traveled to Butler, PA—the site of the assassination attempt against President Trump—which Director Cheatle has yet to visit.
Senator Hawley has also written to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, demanding the facts behind the Secret Service’s security failures at President Donald Trump’s July 13 rally.
The letter included testimony from multiple whistleblowers who have contacted Senator Hawley’s office since the July 13 rally with disturbing new information regarding the assassination attempt on the former president.
