St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) held its inaugural Industry Day Event today, welcoming interested parties to learn more about the Consolidated Terminal Program (CTP). The CTP is a strategic initiative aimed at transforming STL's passenger terminal facilities to cater to customer needs and future demand.
The CTP proposes the consolidation of the existing two passenger terminals with separate concourses and the isolated Federal Inspection Services facility into a single terminal. The primary objectives of this program are to enhance the passenger experience, ensure continued efficient operations at STL by providing adequate space and facilities for current and forecasted passenger demand, and centralize the Transportation Security Administration passenger screening areas to a larger primary location for smoother screening processes.
Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, Airport Director and CEO, stated, "This event is critical to start the successful collaboration the airport will need to move forward with the next phase of the Consolidated Terminal Program."
At today's event, attendees were informed about the CTP timeline, learned about business opportunities within the program, ascertained how to become certified through STL's Business Diversity Development (BDD) Office, and participated in exclusive networking activities.
By 2040, STL expects to accommodate 21 million passengers annually. To handle this volume of passengers effectively, up to 17 additional gates will be required. These gates should be modernized and suitable for larger aircraft. Furthermore, all carriers should have access to immigration and customs services. An updated STL will also necessitate a new large parking garage and improved roadways.
