St. Louis City Awarded Solar For All Federal Grant

Today, the City of St. Louis has been selected to receive a total of $7 billion in awards through the Solar for All grant competition, as part of two different coalition groups among 60 selectees. The Biden-Harris Administration's Environmental Protection Agency announced the selectees on Earth Day, with the aim of delivering residential solar projects to over 900,000 households nationwide.

St. Louis was chosen to be a part of the Missouri Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority and the Industrial Heartland Solar Coalition, with awards totaling more than $300 million. However, the specific allocation for St. Louis City is yet to be determined.

Mayor Tishaura O. Jones expressed the city's commitment to combating climate change, stating, "We are paying attention to the realities of climate change, and St. Louis City is at the forefront of the fight for our future." She further emphasized the city's sustainability efforts, mentioning, "I'm proud that St. Louis is helping to build a more sustainable and resilient future for our city's residents."

The Missouri Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority and the Industrial Heartland Solar Coalition, of which St. Louis is a part, are integral in driving environmental initiatives and supporting community development capital in disadvantaged areas.

Moreover, St. Louis's involvement in the Bloomberg Philanthropies American Sustainable Cities initiative highlights the city's dedication to creating a sustainable and prosperous future for its residents. Mayor Tishaura O. Jones highlighted the city's commitment to sustainability, stating, "In St. Louis, we are taking action to build a sustainable and safe future for our city."

The Healthy Home Repair Program in St. Louis, which includes solar panels as an efficiency upgrade, plays a crucial role in supporting low to moderate-income households and ensuring the well-being of residents.

St. Louis City's receipt of the Solar for All grant underscores its proactive approach towards sustainability and environmental stewardship, setting an example for cities nationwide in the fight against climate change and economic injustices.
