JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has issued a stern warning to Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas regarding the state law that criminalizes the knowing transportation of illegal aliens. In a letter directed to Mayor Lucas, Bailey emphasized the seriousness of the issue in light of the current immigration situation in the country.

In the letter, Bailey expressed his concerns about the implications of open border policies, stating, "We are a nation governed by the rule of law. Yet, under the current Administration in Washington, D.C., laws that don’t align with a radically progressive agenda are simply ignored." He highlighted the tragic consequences of such policies, referencing a case where an illegal alien was granted a work permit and later committed a brutal murder.

Addressing Mayor Lucas directly, Bailey criticized the Mayor's remarks welcoming illegal immigrants to Kansas City, quoting him as saying, "All are welcome in Kansas City. Proud to work with my fellow mayors [from Denver and NYC] as we work to ensure decompression of new arriving communities…" Bailey condemned the Mayor's stance, labeling it as "wildly irresponsible" and highlighting the legal implications for businesses and individuals.

Bailey reiterated his commitment to upholding the law, stating, "I took an oath to enforce the laws as written." He also pointed out the potential risks and expenses associated with the Mayor's open invitation to illegal aliens, emphasizing the need to protect Missouri taxpayers, residents, and business owners.

In conclusion, Bailey urged Mayor Lucas to reconsider his position and align with efforts to uphold the rule of law, rather than undermine it. The Attorney General's letter serves as a clear indication of the state's stance on illegal immigration and the enforcement of related laws.
