Grant Norfleet, the national secretary of the National FFA Organization, expressed his gratitude for being selected for the prestigious role, stating, “It has been a really humbling experience.” He acknowledged the significance of his position, mentioning that only six students per year are chosen for this honor.

Norfleet, who grew up in Mexico, Missouri, immersed in farm life, emphasized the value of his agricultural background in shaping his journey. He mentioned his participation in county and state fairs with his brother, showcasing animals raised on their family farm.

Keith Dietzschold, Missouri FFA’s state advisor, highlighted the unique opportunity Norfleet has to connect with FFA members across the nation and engage with sponsors during his travels. Dietzschold mentioned that this experience could lead to many opportunities in the future for Norfleet.

Norfleet emphasized the grassroots nature of FFA, stating, “Local engagement is really about drilling down to what it means to be in our organization, which is fundamentally a grassroots operation.” He also stressed the importance of FFA in preparing students to become informed consumers and advocates for the agriculture industry.

Looking ahead, Norfleet expressed his hope that his service with FFA would inspire students from various disciplines to get involved and contribute to the industry. He also highlighted the deep roots of FFA that connect to the University of Missouri, where he is pursuing his degree.

As Norfleet continues his journey as a national FFA officer, he aims to encourage students to join the cause and support the agriculture industry, which he believes unites people from diverse backgrounds and professions.
