A St. Louis County man, Antwan Boothe, has been sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison for drug and gun crimes. The sentencing was conducted by U.S. District Judge Catherine D. Perry, who presided over the case involving Boothe's possession of fentanyl and a firearm.
Boothe, 33, was involved in a police chase after fleeing a traffic stop with his 9-year-old son in the car. During the pursuit, Boothe hit multiple parked cars and attempted to escape on foot, discarding a gun as he fled. Upon his arrest, officers discovered a significant amount of fentanyl in his possession, along with a stolen firearm and cash in the car.
Judge Perry's sentencing encompassed nine years for the 2022 incident and an additional year for violating supervised release in a previous federal case. Furthermore, Boothe was warned that any future charges related to the possession of a firearm in connection with drug trafficking could lead to a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.
The investigation into Boothe's case was carried out by the St. Louis County Police Department, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Martin. This legal action falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by fostering community trust, supporting violence prevention initiatives, and prioritizing strategic enforcement efforts.
In light of these developments, Boothe's conviction serves as a stark reminder of the legal consequences associated with drug and gun-related offenses in the St. Louis County area.
