The final of four defendants involved in the fatal shooting of a cab driver in Hazelwood in 2022 has pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting in the commission of a murder. Tywon Harris, 20, admitted to his role in the robbery that led to the death of Dewight Price, 54.

According to the plea agreements, Harris instigated the robbery, while his accomplices Coron Dees and Trishawn Jones robbed Price at gunpoint. Jeremiah Allen taunted and threatened Price during the robbery, and Jones fired the fatal shot when he perceived Price to be a threat.

The incident took place after the four teens left a party in downtown St. Louis and planned to trick a taxi driver into taking them to a fake address to avoid paying the fare. When the teens redirected Price to Hazelwood Central High School, an unfortunate turn of events unfolded, resulting in Price's tragic death.

Despite Price's pleas for mercy and attempts to defend himself, Jones fired a fatal shot, leading to his demise. None of the teens stopped to help Price as they fled the scene, leaving him to succumb to his injuries.

Following the murder, the teens attempted to conceal evidence by disposing of their jackets, hiding firearms, and putting on face masks. The police investigation eventually led to the arrest of all four individuals involved in the crime.

Dees and Allen are awaiting sentencing in April, while Jones is scheduled for sentencing in May, and Harris in July. The charges they face carry severe penalties, including up to life in prison for aiding and abetting murder.

The St. Louis County Police Department and the FBI collaborated on the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Dunkel prosecuting the case. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the consequences of senseless violence and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions.
