CAPE GIRARDEAU – U.S. District Judge Audrey G. Fleissig sentenced 48-year-old Anthony D. Emery from Kennett to eight years in prison for selling methamphetamine from his Dunklin County home. Emery pleaded guilty in December to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He acknowledged having methamphetamine for sale and a loaded firearm for protection.

Authorities from the Kennett Police Department searched Emery's residence on May 3, 2022, discovering a significant amount of illegal substances and cash. The findings included five bags of meth weighing nearly one kilogram, over $4,000 in cash, drug scales, and a loaded Smith & Wesson .38 Special Revolver.

The case was investigated by the Kennett Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Hunter handling the prosecution.
