Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey expressed his satisfaction with the recent developments in the case against Jackson County regarding illegal tax assessments. The Court has set a trial date for June 6, 2024, which Bailey considers a significant step forward in seeking justice for overtaxed Missourians. Bailey stated, "The evidence in this case is overwhelming, which is why I’m confident in our ultimate success on the merits."

Bailey highlighted the severity of the situation by pointing out that a court has already determined that Jackson County's assessments were inaccurate and indicated a lack of leadership and preparation among county officials. He emphasized his commitment to pursuing justice for all residents of Jackson County, stating, "My office has put in long hours on this case, and we will not stop until we’ve achieved justice for all Jackson County residents."

In addition to providing legal assistance, Bailey encouraged Jackson County residents to come forward and share their experiences by contacting his office at 1-800-392-8222 or visiting ago.mo.gov.

The trial against Tyler Technologies, the property appraisal contractor for Jackson County, is scheduled for April 2025. Bailey's office continues to work diligently on the case, aiming to rectify the situation and provide relief to those affected by the illegal tax assessments.

The Court's order related to the case can be accessed for further details on the matter.
