Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has announced that charges have been filed against Mason W. Roller, the 30-year-old software developer behind Bearded Dev Ops, for allegedly defrauding a consumer in Greene County. Attorney General Bailey emphasized the seriousness with which his office views exploitation of Missourians, stating, "The Attorney General’s Office takes exploitation of Missourians seriously." He added, "We work diligently to investigate fraudulent companies and individuals, and when we find credible evidence, we take swift action."

The charge against Roller alleges that between March 2021 and August 2022, his business made false promises to a consumer regarding the development of a software application in exchange for a large down payment and subsequent installments. Roller is accused of exploiting the victim by continuously making false assurances to extract further payments.

In response to this case, Attorney General Bailey urged individuals who believe they have fallen victim to fraudulent practices to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office either by calling the Consumer Protection hotline at (800) 392-8222 or by submitting a complaint online at ago.mo.gov.

It is important to note that the charges against Roller are allegations at this stage, and as with all criminal cases, he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The details of the charges can be accessed on the Attorney General’s website.
