ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man, Courtlend Green, has been sentenced to 65 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Audrey G. Fleissig for his involvement in drug and gun-related crimes. Green, 27, was caught with fentanyl, methamphetamine, and two fully automatic handguns. The sentencing comes after Green's actions on Jan. 3, 2023, where he was apprehended by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department detectives.
According to reports, Green's Honda Crosstour was found to contain two Glock handguns modified with illegal "switches" that turned them into fully automatic weapons. Additionally, a significant amount of drugs, including 64 grams of meth and at least 18 grams of fentanyl, were discovered in Green's possession. Being a convicted felon, Green was prohibited from owning firearms but admitted to having the weapons and purchasing the modifications.
Green had previously pleaded guilty to various charges in December, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. Earlier in June 2022, Green had also pleaded guilty in St. Louis Circuit Court to involuntary manslaughter related to a separate incident near the supermarket where he was apprehended.
The case was investigated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Catherine Hoag prosecuting the case. Green's sentence reflects the seriousness of his offenses and the potential danger posed by his actions.
