St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones has signed into law legislation that will expedite the transformation of St. Louis Lambert International Airport. The legislation, Board Bill 201, authorizes the use of Construction Manager At Risk to procure major components of design and construction for the new single terminal airport transformation. CMAR is also critical to controlling costs and accelerating the timeline of the new terminal project.

In response to the enactment of the CMAR legislation, Greater St. Louis, Inc. issued a statement expressing their support. They emphasized the importance of the airport transformation for the city's economic growth and competitiveness. The organization praised Mayor Jones for her role in moving the project forward, stating, "Transforming our airport is a top priority for St. Louis’ business community. Constructing a world-class terminal is one of the most important steps we can take to drive economic growth and outpace other regions in the hunt for new jobs and investment."

The statement further highlighted the benefits of the new terminal, mentioning that it will not only enhance the traveling experience for residents and visitors but also drive inclusive economic growth and improve the city's ability to attract new opportunities. Greater St. Louis, Inc. also expressed gratitude towards Alderman Shane Cohn for his efforts in securing the passage of the legislation in the Board of Aldermen.

According to a recent study released by Greater St. Louis, Inc., the airport transformation could have a significant economic impact on the region. The study projected that St. Louis Lambert International Airport has the potential to add nearly $5 billion in annual economic impact and support around 30,000 new jobs in the metro area by 2032. This growth is expected to be driven by expansions in the metro’s aerospace manufacturing sector, particularly due to investments made by The Boeing Company on and near the airport campus, as well as an anticipated increase in traffic facilitated by the new terminal.
