Several University of Missouri students had the opportunity to intern with Siemens Healthineers last year, working on solutions to current health care challenges as part of a Value Partnership. Whitney Stuckenschneider, director of operations for Siemens Healthineers, highlighted the interns' involvement in various aspects of the medical technology industry, stating, "Interns worked with industry professionals to plan and coordinate governance meetings and learn business tactics and practical skills, such as the process of manufacturing medical equipment and servicing equipment installed in hospitals."

One of the interns, Erica Goodin, a biomedical engineering major, shared her experience of working with electrical components and circuit diagrams to address issues with a 7-Tesla MRI scanner. Goodin expressed her excitement about the internship, mentioning that these experiences would be valuable for her future career, where she plans to work with similar machines.

Another intern, Kelsee Mortimer, a senior majoring in health sciences, reflected on her internship with Siemens Healthineers, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in achieving the best clinical outcomes and patient experiences. Mortimer expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work on projects alongside her Siemens Healthineers mentor, which helped her gain confidence in her work, improve communication skills, and be open to feedback.

The partnership between the University of Missouri and Siemens Healthineers aims to expand access to advanced health care services for underserved patients and those in rural areas. Siemens Healthineers, a global leader in medical technology, provides cutting-edge equipment to MU Health Care and the Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health building, contributing to the advancement of health care in mid-Missouri and beyond.

The Alliance for Precision Health, a partnership between Siemens Healthineers, the University of Missouri System, and MU Health Care, is set to enhance health-care solutions in mid-Missouri through technology, education, research, and innovation. This collaboration is poised to improve health outcomes for Missourians by laying a strong foundation for the future of health care in the region.
