As students and parents prepare for the school year to begin, with local public schools opening on August 19, the City of St. Louis offers a wide range of programs for children and teenagers looking for fun and safe activities after school.

Whether it’s soccer training at the Cherokee Recreation Center, Girls Talk at the Gamble Recreation Center, Computer Lab & Homework Help at the Wohl Recreation Center, or something completely different, there are activities available for students of all ages across St. Louis this school year.

“As a single mother, I know the importance of having quality programs available for our babies after school,” said Mayor Tishaura O. Jones. “With the great activities put on by our Recreation Division, we are both giving children a chance to get help with their homework and to have fun and grow in a safe environment.”

To learn more and sign up for City programs, visit the City of St. Louis’ education web page or the Recreation Division programs page. For easy access to information on youth programs, events, and job opportunities, visit the St. Louis Youth Corner LinkTree.

Additional programs can be found through Blueprint4, which offers an easy-to-use after-school programs search platform. For students thinking about college, Blueprint4 also offers a college prep program search platform.

To help all students and their families stay healthy, children attending school in Missouri must be up to date on their required vaccinations, including those against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, meningococcal disease, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella depending on which grade a student is in.
