St. Louis CITY SC announced on May 5 that it will host the Bosnia and Herzegovina national soccer team for a six-day training camp, including an international friendly against Panama on June 6 at Energizer Park in downtown St. Louis.
The event is significant as both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Panama have qualified for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, making this match a key preparation opportunity for both teams before they compete on the global stage.
Presale tickets will be available starting Monday, May 4 at noon Central Time for CITY SC Season Ticket Members and myCITY+ members. General public ticket sales begin later that day at 2:00 PM Central Time through www.seatgeek.com. For group or premium tickets, fans are directed to call or visit the club’s website.
Diego Gigliani, President & GM of St. Louis CITY SC, said, “We’re thrilled to host two World Cup-qualified teams in St. Louis as part of our ‘Summer of Soccer,’ just a few days before they compete on the world’s biggest stage, the 2026 FIFA World Cup.” He added, “It’s especially meaningful to welcome Bosnia and Herzegovina, given St. Louis is home to the largest community of Bosnians of any city in North, Central and South America. Knowing what football means to this group, we’re convinced they’ll show up loudly at Energizer Park to send their heroes off to the World Cup feeling the warmth of their fan base.”
Bosnia and Herzegovina will train privately at Energizer Park as well as CITY SC’s Washington University Orthopedics High Performance Center during their stay in St. Louis. The club plans events with the local Bosnian community leading up to the match and will provide designated supporter sections for fans from both countries.
The history between St. Louis and its Bosnian community dates back to resettlement following conflict in Bosnia during the 1990s; today an estimated 60,000 Bosnians live in the region after many arrived seeking safety during that period.
Bosnia secured its place in FIFA World Cup 26 by advancing through UEFA playoffs—most notably defeating Italy via penalty shootout—with Esmir Bajraktarević scoring a decisive kick against Italy on March 31. The team is led by Coach Sergej Barbarez since his appointment in 2024; this tournament marks only their second appearance after debuting at Brazil’s event in 2014 with participation from local player Vedad Ibišević.
Edin Džeko will play his fifth match in St. Louis as captain; he previously visited with Manchester City (2013), Roma (2016), and represented his country here twice before.
Panama also enters its second-ever World Cup after qualifying directly through Concacaf rounds under coach Thomas Christiansen—the longest-serving coach for Panama—by topping Group A over Guatemala, El Salvador, Suriname without defeat during qualifiers.
CITY SC’s Summer of Soccer activities include daily events throughout each day of the World Cup such as Soccer Celebrations at Energizer Park and youth tournaments.
