St. Louis CITY SC lost 4-1 to the Seattle Sounders on April 19 at Lumen Field in Seattle. The match saw Cristian Roldan score twice for the home team, with Albert Rusnák and Osaze De Rosario also adding goals for Seattle. Eduard Löwen scored St. Louis’s only goal during stoppage time in the second half, marking his first of the season.
The result was decided largely by Seattle’s strong offensive performance in both halves. Roldan opened scoring with a header in the 22nd minute and added a second goal fifteen minutes later from inside the box. Rusnák converted a penalty kick early in the second half, while De Rosario found the net late to extend Seattle’s lead further.
Löwen provided some consolation for St. Louis with a right-footed shot from close range two minutes into stoppage time, but it was not enough to change the outcome of the game.
The match statistics showed that both teams had opportunities: Seattle registered thirteen shots with nine on target, while St. Louis managed twelve shots but only three on target. Referee Chris Penso officiated alongside assistants Chris Elliott and Jeremy Hanson at Lumen Field under cloudy skies and mild temperatures.
St. Louis CITY SC will return home next Saturday, April 25, when they face San Jose Earthquakes at Energizer Park with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
